Days on the Dirt Invitational

AT THE SEASON FINALE OF THE INDIAN MOTORCYCLE FLAT TRACK NATIONALS PRESENTED BY THE DTRA

As Days on the Dirt’s 2022 revival draws to a close, the all-women off-road training brand has a lot to reflect on. It really has been an awesome year for getting more women on motorcycles. Whether that be total beginners like at the Malle Mile and Camp VC earlier this summer, or engaging with those that already ride, helping them to discover new passions for off-road riding, in either Flat Track or Motocross on their staple experience days at Greenfield Dirt Track.

But they really have saved the best till last, the crème de la crème, the grand finale for the year- the ‘Days on the Dirt Invitational’ at the Dirt Track Riders Association (DTRA) season closer, taking place at their home- Greenfield Dirt Track. Yes, that’s right, there will be a dedicated ‘Days on the Dirt’ class at the final round of the 2022 Indian Motorcycle Flat Track Nationals Championship, taking place on the 18th of September! This class comprises of those that have either attended a Days on the Dirt Flat Track training day or DirtCamp, run earlier in the year with the DTRA and Greenfield and of course onboard Honda CRF125s.

This is an extremely exciting prospect for Days on the Dirt but it’s important to remember that none of this would be possible without the DTRA’s tireless support of women in motorcycling. Since their inception back in 2013 the DTRA have been totally inclusive of all genders, with Days on the Dirt founder, Leah Tokelove, being one of them. Never cast aside, pushed out or made to feel unwelcome, quite the opposite really- the DTRA have always set a high standard of accessible and fun motorsport. And through this hard work, organising events like the ‘DTRA Ladies Day’ that later evolved into ‘DirtCamp’ the DTRA only promoted women in motorcycling and encouraged women to take up racing. And after nearly ten years of hard work the DTRA has seen their investment come to fruition- with well over 20 women regularly riding with the DTRA, a number that British women’s motocross races struggle to match.

The ‘Days on the Dirt Invitational’ will provide the first steppingstone into racing. Because while there is no stopping any of the attendees from signing up to a regular Mini Stock race- if motorcycling, let alone racing is totally new to you- then of course it is daunting going up against the seasoned mini stock pros! That’s why a dedicated class, solely for Days on the Dirt graduates is a positive, inclusive step because it gives women the opportunity to give racing a go in a safe, non-judgemental environment, alongside like-minded individual’s- which is totally the ethos of Days on the Dirt, it’s all about opportunity!

It’s going to be a big weekend for all in attendance and we hope that everyone is pleased to see the progressiveness of the DTRA and Days on the Dirt. Want to do your bit to help the cause over the weekend? If so, simply offer kind words of encouragement towards the new racers, you know some of that infamous DTRA hospitality and really show them why they need more motorcycle fun times in their lives! All that’s left to say is it’s set to be a class to watch out for, especially for the big grins through the helmets!

A big thank you to everyone that has supported Days on the Dirt in 2022: all you wonderful people that have rode with us; liked our photos; shared our story and supported us in any way shape or form- the best is yet to come.
